Theth sits deep in the Albanian Alps (Bjeshkët e Nemuna / Accursed Mountains), a national park of stone towers, waterfalls and the famous Theth–Valbona hiking trail. It is about 160 km from Tirana International Airport (TIA / Nënë Tereza): first the fast SH1 to Shkodër, then a mountain road that climbs over the pass into the valley.
Allow 3 hours 30 minutes to 4 hours — the final stretch is a slow, scenic mountain road, so a driver who knows it makes the difference. There is no public transport that lines up with flight arrivals, and self-driving the pass in a hire car is not for everyone. Theth is best visited from late spring to autumn; winter access can be limited by snow, so check with us before booking off-season.
