Shkodër (Shkodra) is northern Albania's cultural capital and the gateway to the Albanian Alps — the launch point for Theth, Valbona and the Koman Lake ferry. It sits about 100 kilometres north of Tirana International Airport (TIA / Nënë Tereza) on the SH1 highway, an easy run up through Laç and Lezhë.
The drive takes roughly 1 hour 30 minutes on good dual carriageway for most of the way. Many of our guests use Shkodër as a first or last night before or after hiking in the mountains; others come for the lake, the castle and the famously relaxed café culture. Night and early-morning pickups are available at no extra charge.
